This is one of two works that grew out of a fortuitous encounter and are a departure from the self-exploration of 'I' that have been the focus of many previous paintings. Outgoing and bold, when I met this collector and a writer, I found that she was the opposite of me, and though I was at first enamored by her grace and beautiful appearance, I then got to know her delicate inner side, and was naturally inclined to include her in my work.
