Jaeyi Kim - Lenormand

$1,380.00

Lenormand is a picture that began with the question "Why do strange things happen when superstitions and politics meet?"

Just as Napoleon was fascinated by the tarot of Madame Lenormond, it is amazing that superstitions have been intertwined with politics throughout the world from antiquity to modern day. Korea is no acceptation and still has many controversies around superstitious beliefs.

This painting, Lenormand, represents the satirization of the political story on the outside, while maintaining a belief on the inside that cannot be given up. Like a self-effacing showman, or a humble provocateur, there are elements of hypocrisy wrapped in authenticity. The writing on the ribbon Lenormand is Korean scribble, a symbol of this duality.
